DARScape Classic Development Update
09-13-2008
Completed new world selection client. The new client download has added functionality of the choice when first opening between selecting the DARScape Classic world or the DARScape PK world. Delete the old client(s) that you may have already downloaded. The new unified client allows players in the PK world to attack anyone anywhere regardless of their combat level. There are no safe areas! Play at your own risk.

The extremely large experience rate that players are using to get very high levels currently WILL BE REDUCED TO TRUE RSC LEVELS SHORTLY. Already achieved stats will not be reset. This is our gift to players who have been beta testing during development.

Bring a friend! This will be how we will grow in membership. To tell them how to find the clan forum, simply tell them to "use a search engine and search for dragon annihilators" and the first result will be this site.

Progression
I made a little progress today with integrating the forum with the DARScape Classic Fun Server so that all who register to play on the fun server will also have forum accounts ready for them to login with. The last step is to have the regular server share the same database used by the fun server for player accounts. Once all three things have been integrated, we will open our doors to new players!

DARScape Promo
From the Developers of DARScape I, II, III, IV, and V:
http://DARScape.org
Development is underway once again with DARScape Classic. My group briefly had TX's Basic Server v2 running with a simple website over the summer but ran into a number of problems with sustainability. Hopefully everything has been cleared up. The server architecture of the present should prevent future issues from arising.
Our set up:
- "Regular" RSC-like RSCD_v25 server with dedicated client
- "Fun" high experience rate Basic Server V2 with dedicated client
- Business class web hosting
- Dedicated laptop PC connected to a 7mbit residential connection running both servers with 1.5 hour battery backup in case of power disruption
- Redundant dedicated PC with mirrored servers
- Redundant copy of web site and database(s) mirrored on each machine running Apache
- Website free of SQL injection vulnerabilities
- Cron job backup of databases made nightly
- Invision Power Board registration/authentication tied to both game servers
- Game servers behind corporate-operated firewall system
- Developers known for several years
- MD5 encrypted user passwords for both game servers in case of database intrusion
- Game servers reset every 24 hours to prevent glitching, memory leakage, and crashes
- Low stress development schedule to avoid developer burnouts
- Clearly stated policies on intellectual property and our beliefs for private servers
- Effective communication of development and administration news for both servers via IPB news pages for each game server.
Both servers have been running for the past two weeks since we resumed development on DARScape Classic. Game clients have been uploaded and previously registered players for both servers have been able to resume playing. New players are currently unable to register until we have finished writing the new registration system that is tied to the IPB forum.
